Our Story
Welcome to Urban Chicks - a growing family of urban farmers dedicated to raising healthy animals and crops sustainably in the heart of the city.

We specialize in raising rabbits for meat, fur, and fancy, as well as guinea pigs (for fancy), quail, and a variety of fresh produce. Our team is made up of two passionate farmers who are committed to promoting urban agriculture and educating our community on the benefits of locally sourced, organic food.

At Urban Chicks, we believe that everyone should have access to nutritious and delicious food, no matter where they live. It is our mission to teach others how to begin this journey as well as provide our friends and family with fresh, healthy, and sustainable options.
Whether you're a seasoned farmer or just starting out, we invite you to join our community and learn more about urban farming and sustainable living.
The uncertain times we faced during the pandemic made us realize the importance of being self-sufficient and able to provide for ourselves and our loved ones. That's when we decided to establish Urban Chicks, raising fresh meat and growing organic produce for our family. Our urban homestead is committed to learning sustainable farming techniques and providing healthy and nutritious products. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge in homesteading to help others become self-sufficient too.

Founder
Homesteading has been a dream of mine since being a child. Each summer, my grandmother and I spent our days in the garden. We had trellis' full of cucumbers, a forest of tomatoes, and flowers galore. Those long summer days spent digging in the dirt were some of the best months of my life, but they are more than a memory. Those days planted a seed in my heart that would blossom into a passion for homesteading.

When we purchased our first home we made it a priority to put in a garden that would produce nutritious food for our family and animals. There are moments when I sit in my backyard smelling the fresh herbs,
studying the intricacies of my flowers, biting into fresh produce, or watching my animals play in the grass, these are the moments I know I'm home.

While our ultimate goal is to own acreage one day, we continue to make strides towards our dream by reviving traditions of old that were not taught to us. We have learned to prepare nutritious meals with our produce, preserve food, bake our own bread, and expand our knowledge in gardening techniques and animal husbandry.

It is my hope that as my children grow we can continue to provide organic produce and meat while passing down our passion for homesteading to them.

Homesteading has fascinated me from the very beginning. Seeing others take this path sparked a curiosity in me and encouraged me to start learning more. As a child, I loved spending time in my mother’s garden, and my connection with animals has always been a big part of who I am. I knew this was something I wanted to share with my sister. So, when Morgan invited me to join her on this journey, my answer was an easy, wholehearted “yes!”
During the summers and weekends, Morgan and I would travel all over to show our rabbits. In 2023, I spent the whole summer with her, and that’s when I really got into it—gardening, taking care of the animals, learning to cook and bake, and even helping out with my nephews. It was a busy summer, but one I’ll never forget.
